Yo Mzansi Launches Clothing Line

The first time I came across Yo Mzansi was through their lifestyle news and entertainment website. It offered hella fresh entertainment news and reviews. Now they have launched their own clothing line and its looking proper. The clothing brand encompasses hiphop culture and our African Heritage. Here is an interview they did with Gauteng Pozi Online Mag. Lets see what went down.

· Tell us a bit about Yo Mzansi.
YoMzansi is a young , urban and the coolest brand by now. The brand is divided into more platforms at which 2 exists by now, which is YoMzansi News Network (an urban entertainment & lifestyle  news network) www.YoMzansi.com ||||| Secondly Yo Mzansi Urban Wear: hottest, freshest & coolest urban+street wear/ clothing label dedicated to both ladies & gents style. The main focus of the brand is to stay relevent & cool

· What made you fall inlove with fashion?
Fashion has a wide-range of different styles, we’ve always seen how people trend these different styles , that gave us love for fashion + inspiration and made us to be more eager in creating a high volume brand with the coolest urban name to it.

· What inspired the name Yo Mzansi?
This was a tricky name to plot, first the “yo” – we wanted any short , hype and popular word, that you would say more than 10times a day, that’s when we spotted “Yo” which is a lingo used more in hipHop culture as a meaning of “hi” , for e.g Yo’man wassup…….. Yo’ Mzans..…..
Then secondly “Mzansi”……, this was a matter of diluting the home lingo in the entire brand name , and Mzansi fell-in so well , that’s how we got the brand Yo’Mzansi

· When was Yo Mzansi founded?
It all began in Jan 2010 from a tiny platform which we never thought it will grow up to this hype we have today.

· Do you have any co-owners?
Yes two at current stage ( Thabo Modiselle & Thabiso Modiselle)

· Does your label Cater for both male and female?
Definitely it does, this is one fresh & cool urban brand that we cannot limit, YoMzansi Urban Wear is focused at young people who want to add a fresh element of style to their fashion, so we didn’t have much choice but to cater everyone.

We will be announcing stores that will stock our label in October to make it easier for people who want to buy.

· What do you have for the summer season, should we expect something that is WOW?
Ofcoz we’ve just released our new summer range, new colourful look, from tshirts, sweaters, hoodies , vests & caps : the element of our new summer range is more based on staying colorful and fresh. And theres still more suprises instore for now we basically focused on growing the brand to limitless extensions more even to other African countries.

· If you can describe fashion in 1 word what would it be?
Style

· What would you advice people to wear this spring?
Anything colorful , light, stylish, creative and more stylish , its all about looking bubbly but still appropriate at the same-time

· Who do you dress?
We have our brand Ambassadors, young urban dance crew : Soweto’s Finest

· As a young Entrepreneur what word of encouragement would you give to people who look up to you?
Workhard , stay patient, your shinewill come , never ever give-up on your dream regardless of the challenges, hiccups & conditions…… Anything is possible, impossible is nothing,
